New Year's Holiday Week Update

The Contractor continues to work in two areas. Progress continues at the new 15th Avenue Pump Station which is beginning to take shape. It is scheduled to be tested and put into operation in early January.

The Contractor is also beginning preparatory work to begin installing the pits for the trenchless sewer installation. They are currently working on installing a temporary sewer bypass on Geoffroy Drive. The excavation of the pits is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of January 11, 2016, though this schedule is not yet confirmed. A more specific timeframe will be provided as soon as it is available.

Friday there will be no work due to the New Year's Day holiday.

Holiday Work Schedule

The Contractor will not be working today or Christmas Day. The crew will be completing the sewer bypass on Geoffroy Drive early next week before taking New Year's Eve and New Year's Day off.

Once work resumes after the holidays, the Contractor expects to begin excavating the microtunneling pits. More details will be posted as they become available.

Sewer Bypass Update

The Contractor is finishing up the 16th Avenue sewer bypass and starting the bypass on 14th Avenue today. The crew will be cleaning up 16th Avenue before moving their equipment over to 14th Avenue.

Expect a small crew and some equipment on 14th Avenue in the area shown on the map in the previous post. There may be some short traffic delays, but access to all residences will be maintained.

Additionally, work on the 15th Avenue pump station control panel slab continues. The Contractor expects the slab to be poured this Friday.

Sewer Bypass and 15th Ave Pump Station Work

The Contractor is currently constructing the 15th Avenue Pump Station's new control panel slab and plans to pour the slab at the end of this week. Once the slab has been poured, the new control panel will be installed.

Beginning this Friday, the Contractor will begin constructing sewer bypasses on 14th, 15th, and 16th Avenue as well as Geoffroy Drive in preparation for the microtunneling work. Sewer bypasses are used to reroute the existing sewer line around the limits of excavation. Installing bypasses allows the new manholes to be safely placed without an interruption to service. Bypass construction will occur at the areas shown in the map below.

Pump Station Work and Holiday

The Contractor will continue work at the new 15th Avenue Pump Station tomorrow. There will be no work on Thursday November 26 and Friday November 27 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Work will resume on Monday November 30 at the 15th Avenue Pump Station as well as some potholing activities on 16th Avenue and Geoffroy Drive throughout next week.

Excavation of pits for the trenchless pipe work is expected to begin the following week (December 7, 2015) and continue throughout the month. Specific schedules for each street will be provided as the work approaches each area.

Trench Work at the 15th Avenue Pump Station

The Contractor will be taking advantage of a break in the weather to do some trench work in the driveway of the 15th Avenue Pump Station. The work will begin tomorrow, November 10th, and is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, November 12th.

During the driveway work, expect equipment to be moving between the pump station and staging area at the end of 15th Avenue with minimal traffic impact. Once the work is complete, the Contractor will continue potholing work.

Potholing Activity on 14th, 15th, 16th, Blackpoint Lane, and Geoffroy Drive

The Contractor began potholing today and will continue potholing through next week. A pothole is a small, localized area of excavation to confirm the location of underground utilities. Affected areas will be restored with temporary paving after the potholing activities have been completed. The activities will be taking place in the locations noted below.

East Cliff Drive Tie-In

Starting October 28th, the Contractor will be completing the new force main tie-in at the intersection of 15th Avenue and East Cliff Drive.


The Contractor will have one flagger with a paddle at each end of the work to direct traffic into the north lane of East Cliff Drive. Short delays should be expected as traffic in both directions will be using the north lane. Access to 15th Avenue will be permitted.

15th Avenue Sewer Work Update

The Contractor has nearly reached the end of work in the east lane on 15th Avenue and will be transitioning into the west lane. Expect a small crew with some heavy equipment around the open trench.


Flaggers with two way radios will be stationed near the 15th Avenue and East Cliff Drive intersection to facilitate traffic flow through the east lane on 15th Avenue. Drivers may experience some short delays. As a reminder, the Contractor will provide driveway access to all residents.

Once this section of sewer line is complete, the Contractor will be moving back to the 15th Avenue Pump Station to continue work.

Sewer Work on 15th Avenue

The Contractor will begin installing the new sewer force main on 15th Avenue this week. Expect a small crew with some heavy equipment beginning at the end of 15th Avenue and moving towards East Cliff Drive. There will be one lane open to traffic at all times.


At the end of 15th Avenue, there will be cones set up around the work zone in the east lane. The west lane will be open to traffic. We ask that all drivers be aware of other vehicles traveling in both directions in the west lane.The Contractor will provide driveway access to all residents.

As the work moves into the west lane and closer to East Cliff Drive, the Contractor will have four flaggers controlling the flow of traffic around the work. Expect short delays as the flaggers guide traffic through the open east lane.

Potholing Activity on 14th, 15th, and Blackpoint Lane

This week, Anderson Pacific will begin potholing activities. A pothole is a small, localized area of excavation to confirm the location of underground utilities. These areas will be restored with temporary paving once the exploration is complete. The majority of this work will take place along 15th Avenue, with a few localized areas on both 14th Avenue and Blackpoint Lane. Traffic impacts will be minimal, and localized to the immediate pothole location. Brief traffic delays may be experienced.

New Pump Station Construction is Under Way

The Contractor is making progress on the first phase of the project, which is the new pump station construction at 15th Avenue. Today the excavation for the new wet well was completed and the shoring installed.
For the remainder of the week, the Contractor will be preparing to install the new concrete base for the pump station. Once the new base is placed, the wet well walls will be installed.

Demolition at 15th Avenue Pump Station

Beginning this week, the Contractor will start demolition of some of the existing 15th Avenue Pump Station equipment to make room for the new pump station. Residences in the area may hear some noise associated with this work. No traffic impacts are expected at this time. Potholing to confirm the location of existing utilities is tentatively scheduled to take place later this week.
